Streit's Ultimate College Football Road Trip 2009 : Week 3

Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. Texas Longhorns in Austin, Texas

Austin. Capital on Texas, home of the South by Southwest Music Festival and the Texas Longhorns. In 2008, despite defeating rival Oklahoma in the Red River Shootout, the Longhorns did not go to the Big XII Championship Game and missed a shot to take on Florida for the National Championship. Why did the 'Horns miss out? Because of this play:

The 2009 match up between these two teams shifts to Austin, where the Longhorns will be looking to enact some revenge on the Red Raiders. Gone are Michael Crabtree and Graham Harrell, but if we have learned anything, it is that it doesn't matter who plays quarterback at Texas Tech, they are going to put up numbers. Pirate Mike Leach and his team will have new leaders next year, but expect much of the same.

For Texas, this will be Colt McCoy's chance to beat the team that not only cost him a shot at the championship and perfect season, but also the Heisman trophy. Mack Brown's team will be highly ranked once again and I expect this one to be another high scoring affair.

They say that everything is bigger in Texas and Austin is supposed to represent the best the state has to offer. Plenty of bars and a thriving music scene make Austin a must visit for any football fan. The 'Horns fans are known to be a good bunch and you gotta love any fans willing to wear something that looks this stupid:

Up Next: We head to Death Valley to see Clemson host a team that I consider the best mid-major in the country, the TCU Horned Frogs in a cross-conference match up.
