Thoughts on Arkansas

I've waited a few days before writing my thoughts on the last minute loss to Arkansas on Saturday. For much of the game, Georgia looked like a team lost. Lost in the expectations of the fans, in the talent of the other team, and looking for an identity of its own. My thoughts on this game were all over the place, from the incredibly disappointed to the extactically optimistic. When we stopped the Hogs again after getting back to a tie in the fourth, I'd be lying if I said I did not think we were going to win on a field goal. If there is one word I could use to describe my feelings, the word is polarizing. We are 1-2 and looking at a long season ahead, but there certainly are some bright spots from the game.

Let's start with the bad:

- We lost. There's nothing worse than losing in football. Doesn't matter if it is by 1 or 100, it is still a loss in the books. And while I am happy we fought back and had a chance to win, it doesn't really matter in the end.
- Poor Aaron Murray. Yes, he held on to the ball too long a few times, but his receivers were covered. Would you have rather he thrown it up and risked an interception?
- Blown coverages. We got burned short and burned deep. Why can we not defend a crossing route over the middle???
- Without AJ, it is clear we are missing a deep threat. Arkansas stayed in man coverage and the receivers were not getting much separation to take advantage.
- Ealey is a good runner, but we need Caleb back in the game. He is an excellent blocker Ealey clearly is not getting the job done.
- We really missed Branden Smith.

Now, the positive:

- Murray is a special player. Yes, he still makes some freshman mistakes. But he was about one 15 yard pass away from having his very own "David Greene" moment.
- Durham continues to impress me. When AJ gets back, Durham may get even more chances to shine.
- The tackling was improved.
- We fought back. The team could have easily caved with Arkansas up 14 in the 4th. But they didn't. To all those fans who left, shame on you. The team didn't quit, why did you???

We've got to pick up the pieces and move on. There is still a lot of season left. Losing to arguably the best South Carolina and Arkansas teams each school has had in at least a decade does not make me feel so bad. We can right the ship in Starkville on Saturday.

GO DAWGS!!!!

When the TV scanned the crowd with Georgia losing 10-24 at HOME against Arky who has NO DEFENSE we needed to score MORE than we had the entire first three quarters in the 4th quarter, we needed 2 TD in 1 quarter when we had scored only 1 TD in 3 quarters.

By the time, they scanned the crowd, the crowd had already left and no one was walking up the aisles at the time. The 2nd deck was missing a good third and the first deck was missing 15 percent. If they were there, they were disguised as empty seats.

Now, you wait 3 days and say shame on those who left. We came back.

I thought you just said, we Lost.

Did I miss that ?

The fans, kept in the dark, and fed all this B.S. are not happy with being 1-2 in our own conference and in fact after 2005 have a LOSING RECORD to the SEC East, now we play Arky with NO DEFENSE and for 3 quarters score 1 TD and are 2 TD behind.

Everyone else, while you contemplated your Navel for 4 days, had a long list of excuses but I didn't see 1 of them saying that it was because we have NO DISCIPLINE despite our NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FULMER CUP 2010 for Arrests / Suspensions.

So, tens of thousands walked out.

If we quit with the EXCUSES and call it like it is, we have lost to the good teams since 2001 and for good measure have lost to bad teams since 2001 too.

You say they were wrong to lave that we had a comeback.

Were they wrong ?

They left because they were disgusted we were losing. They saw it as a loss and did not want to watch it play out, but go do something meaningful in life Saturday.

Being a HOMER for this Program, and dreaming up excuses like it hurts recruiting already hurt anyway, makes us look worse nationally. And, by the way this is the 2nd year in a row that we are NOT RANKED.

They were wrong, those that left, that they felt the game was over ?

Or, did I make it up that you just said we

LOST.

They were NOT WRONG, were they ?

Dear Mr. Anonymous,

We did lose, there's no denying that and the team was struggling through much of the game. But if you want to walk out on your team just because they were losing to another ranked program, then maybe you are not the fan you think you are. Yes, there are issues with the team, but I am not about to give up on them. There are 9 games left in the season. If you want to be one of those people that gives up and leaves games early, then WHY DO YOU BOTHER TO COME? If you hate the coaching staff, hate the players, and think the team is horrible, then turn in your red polo and move on. I'm sure Florida is accepting applications for bandwagon fans (they have been for the last 20 years).

The team did not quit on Saturday, but obviously you did.

I say it's your ticket to do with as you please. It was brutally hot Saturday and the team was playing poorly for 3+ quarters. Of course people are going to leave early.

"I gave up, you did too...Miracle."

Problem is there was no miracle last Saturday. Biggus Rickus is right on the money (no pun intended) - it's your ticket, you can do as you please with it.

The season ticket holders are the investors, and the investors ain't happy.

this is ridiculous, Georgia football gave it's fans some good times from 01-05,but after 06, Richt could only go to the BCS Championship in order to please the fans. Georgia will never get past the SEC east with such a volatile fan base.

Not for nothin', Anon, but Miami won four national titles from '83-'91 with the ficklest fanbase in the country.
