The Countdown 2009: 4 Days to Go

4

Overtimes it took Georgia to defeat Auburn in 1996. This was the first overtime game in SEC history and Georgia won by a final score of 56 - 49. Georgia needed this miraculous play just to get to overtime.

By far, my favorite game of all time. I remember watching this with a house full of Auburn and UGA alum adults and thinking everyone was nuts.

The game was a pure slugfest. Both teams went back and forth, but the fun didn't start until OT. I remember each teams' captains walking out before each OT to shake hands. By the third OT, the hate had stopped and everyone was just out having fun. This game is exactly what SEC football and The South's Oldest Rivalry is all about. Even though Auburn lost, I can still appreciate this game and say it was the best game I have ever watched. I'm sure UGA fans would say the same even if Georgia had lost.

I believe my 15-yr-old self was wearing an obnoxious "AU" starter jacket during this game. I kept getting kicked in the back by a Georgia girl.

I still decided to go to UGA and become a Dawg...

Go Dawgs!

Isn't this kind of contradictory? SEC football (esp TSOR) is all about hate.

By far the best game I've ever been to. My 17-yr-old self sat in the Auburn student section with my Georgia hat. Robert Edwards played like a man that day.

Unlike Earl, I saw the light, went to the Capstone and decided to Roll With the Tide.
