Georgia Tech: The team that gave up a sack to RUDY

In the final game of the 1975 season, the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame hosted the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Notre Dame Field in South Bend. The Irish won that day by a score of 24 - 3, but the day would go down in history as walk on Dan Ruettiger sacked Tech quarterback Rudy Allen on the final play of the game. Rudy was then carried off the field by his teammates (since then, no other Notre Dame player has been carried off the field.)

The story of Rudy would be dramatized in a 1993 film starring Sean Astin. While most of us have seen the movie, very few have seen the actual footage of that play. Through the power of the Internet, that video is now available on You Tube.

As the annual game with Tech approaches, I hope Georgia can play the role of Notre Dame beating Georgia Tech once again. After all, we did have a walk on defensive end make a sack in the Kentucky game. Can you imagine: coming soon to a theater near, "GULLY".

GO DAWGS!!!
